September. This month marks being one year out from diagnosis and six months since the end of chemotherapy. And for the record, I would like to catalog a list of firsts from the last two weeks:
1. First haircut (good-bye wings and 70s feather!).
2. First time in my life I need hair products with names like "Frizz-Ease" and "Styling Mud."
3. First time I've worked out after work in more years than I would like to acknowledge.
4. First time I've gone to Groove Garden (Fairfax's monthly community dance jam) since the year I moved out here. (Dancing is sooo good for the spirit.)
5. First time I've gone to Power to the Peaceful (Michael Franti's free concert in Golden Gate Park) since the year I moved out here. (Umm, note a theme here.)
6. First time I don't spend the greater portion of Sundays lesson planning.
7. First time I've bought a size 6 pair of pants since junior high (god bless chemotherapy).
Celebrating firsts this month...
